Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Production Planning & Scheduling:
    • Develop and implement effective production plans, schedules, and strategies to ensure timely manufacturing of products.
    • Coordinate with sales, procurement, and production teams to ensure that production schedules meet customer demand while optimizing resources and minimizing delays.
    • Manage and prioritize multiple production orders to ensure deadlines are met efficiently.
  2. Material Requirement Planning (MRP):
    • Oversee and manage the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system to ensure accurate forecasting of raw materials and components required for production.
    • Ensure timely procurement of materials, aligning with the production schedules to avoid stockouts or excess inventory.
    • Work closely with the purchasing team to streamline the material sourcing process and maintain optimal inventory levels.
  3. Production Process Optimization:
    • Analyze production processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and optimize resource usage.
    • Implement best practices in production and inventory control to minimize production costs and improve overall productivity.
    • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to resolve production issues and bottlenecks, ensuring a smooth flow of operations.
  4. Coordination with Cross-functional Teams:
    • Work closely with the production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics teams to ensure seamless execution of production plans.
    • Collaborate with the R&D and engineering teams to implement product changes, process improvements, or new production techniques.
    • Communicate production schedules and timelines to all relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment and prevent delays.
  5. Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production progress against the plan, adjusting production schedules as needed to meet customer deadlines.
    • Generate and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, production output, and machine efficiency.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on production status, challenges, and improvements to senior management.
  6. Capacity Planning and Resource Allocation:
    • Conduct capacity planning to ensure that production facilities and resources (machinery, manpower, and materials) are sufficient to meet demand.
    • Ensure optimal utilization of manufacturing resources and equipment to maximize production efficiency.
    • Plan and manage workforce requirements in coordination with the HR department, ensuring adequate staffing levels based on production needs.
  7. Cost Control and Budgeting:
    • Monitor production costs and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising on product quality or safety standards.
    • Prepare and manage the production budget, ensuring efficient use of resources while achieving cost targets.
    • Identify areas for cost reduction and improve process efficiencies to enhance profitability.
  8. Continuous Improvement:
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in production planning and control, implementing lean manufacturing practices, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
    • Identify areas for process optimization, waste reduction, and quality improvement, collaborating with the production team to implement changes.
    • Drive initiatives for cycle time reduction, inventory management, and production throughput.
  9. Customer Satisfaction and On-Time Delivery:
    • Ensure that production meets customer requirements in terms of quality, quantity, and delivery timelines.
    • Work with the logistics and dispatch teams to ensure timely delivery of finished products to customers.
    • Address any customer concerns related to production timelines, quality issues, or other product-related matters.

Key Skills Required:

  • Strong expertise in Production Planning and Control (PPC) systems and processes, including MRP, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Experience in coordinating across multiple departments, including production, procurement, logistics, and quality control.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems for production planning, inventory control, and scheduling.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to optimize production processes and resolve issues.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and build strong relationships.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing production planning and control in manufacturing industries (preferably in reels or similar production processes).
  • Advanced knowledge of inventory management techniques and capacity planning.
  • Experience with ERP systems
